UP Warriors beat Gujarat Giants by 3 wickets to win the first match of their campaign for the inaugural Women Premier League
Match Highlights: The Gujarat Giants appeared to be on course to recover well from yesterday’s devastating loss. They only had to stop 52 from the final 3 overs. However, they were unable to stop the UP from pursuing the objective. The game was won by UP by three wickets, earning them the opening two points.
Wow, what amazing stuff! Even though it appeared that the game was over, Harris persisted, and in this Navi Mumbai venue, she pulled off a robbery. Her elegant finish involves whipping the whole toss over the long leg for six sealing the game for UP.
UP-W vs GUJ-W: Early on in the Innings
Early on in the innings Gujarat won the toss and decided to bat first. In came the Gujarat Giants started off quite well as they struck 34 in the first four overs but the opening partnership lasted for not so long as Dunkley was dismissed after scoring 13 runs from 11 balls.
However, after losing two-three wickets Gujarat Giants fought hard until the end in the form of Harleen Deol, as she scored 46 runs from 32 balls. Gardner was the second-highest run-scorer for Gujarat with 25 runs from 19 balls.
UP-W vs GUJ-W: Star Player of the Match
Harleen Deol was the star player from the Gujarat Giants with the bat and Kim Garth with the ball did the job for Gujarat Giants in the first match of the WPL. The way Gujarat Giants batted was simply amazing as they fought until the end to put up a decent total to defend. With the ball also Gujarat Giants made an impressive spell to try and restrict UP from chasing down the target.
UP-W vs GUJ-W: UP Warriorz Struggling to Score Runs
Skipper Alyssa Healy and Shweta Sehrawat came in first to open the innings for UP but failed to convert it into a big score. Kim Garth who did the job with the ball.
It was a big shocker in the opening game as Tahlia McGrath was dismissed for a duck by Kim Garth. But Kiran Navgire was fighting until the end, even after wickets kept falling at one end. Kim finished her knock with a half-century (53 runs from 43 balls).
Deepti, Kim, Grace Harris and Sophie Ecclestone were the only four batsmen who scored runs in two-digit figures, the rest all suffered and this resulted in the flop show of UP Warriors.

Grace Harris was definitely the match-winner for the UP Warriors as she changed the game completely. Gujarat tried their best to stop UP but in the end, Harris half century changed the course of the match for the UP.
