Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers Highlights, WBBL 2024-25

Opted to bat, the Perth Scorchers side were bundled out for 140 despite starting their innings on a steady note.

With 43 for no loss after five, the Scorchers were only able to add 97 more runs and lost all of their ten wickets in next 14.4 overs. The wicketkeeper opening batter, Beth Mooney, remained the highest scorer for the Scorchers with 36.

Skipper Sophie Molineux starred with the ball as she completed a four-wicket haul while giving only 17 in her four overs. Apart from her, Hayley Matthews, Deandra Dottin, and Georgia Wareham shared 2-2 wickets each.

Webb-Matthews partnership

Chasing a target of 140 was not a big deal for the star-studded batting line-up of Melbourne Renegades, but the pressure of losing the first two games was there before chasing.

However, the Renegades openers burst away that pressure and went on to add 100-plus runs for the first wicket and put her side in a solid position to win the match.

Courtney Webb and Hayley Matthews added 102 in 10.5 overs before Webb got out for 61 off 37. While Matthews played a knock of 41 off 27.

Melbourne Renegades faced a bit tense moment after losing their third wicket at 120 but owing to Webb and Matthews splendid foundation of the run-chase, the team secured the victory with 14 balls to spare.
