Opted to bat, the highest run-scorer for India, Shafali Verma, began steadily but was failed to convert it into a big knock and walked back into the pavilion after scoring 16.

Uma Chetry, who came at crease as number 3 batter, only managed to score seven, which further puts the pressure on team India.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur then joined Smriti, and both added 29 for the fourth wicket before Kaur left the crease after collecting 11 runs.

Jemimah Rodrigues was looking in good touch and was an unfortunate run-out that also ended her innings at 29. However, her partnership of 41 with Smriti provided India a stage to post a decent total on board.

Mandhana completed her 26th T20Is fifty when it mattered the most, as her 60 off 47 and Richa Ghosh’s 14-ball 30 played a huge role in helping India set a target of 166 for Sri Lanka.
