IND-W vs BAN-W Highlights: India beat Bangladesh to qualify for Women’s Asia Cup Final for ninth time in a row

IND-W vs BAN-W Highlights, India women defeated the Bangladesh women’s cricket team in the first semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 to book the finale berth for the record ninth consecutive time.  

Team India won the Women’s Asia Cup title in seven out of eight attempts, and after beating Bangladesh today at Dambulla, they are now ready to play tournament’s and their ninth finale of the marquee event.

The first semi-final between was a low-scoring game, where Bangladesh posted a below par total while batting first, and team India chased it down with 10 wickets in hand.

Opted to bat, Bangladesh faced a shaky start as they lost their top-3 batters at 21, and next three at 44.  

With only 44 on board at the cost of six wickets, the skipper of Bangladesh Nigar Sultana tried her best to rescue. Sultana (32) and Akter (19*) took the total to 80 before the former left the crease after a failed attempt to clear log on in the final over of the innings.  

Other batters not able to score a single run in the last five balls, as Bangladesh set a target of 81.

Renuka Singh Thakur and Radha Yadav both secured 3-3 wickets each for India. Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti also grabbed 1-1 each.  

India record ninth Women’s Asia Cup final appearance 

Chasing a target of 81, Indian openers, Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, looked in a complete rush to finish the game early.

Both took just 11 overs to chase down the target, as India won the semifinal by 10 wickets

The vice-captain of team India completed her fifty in 38 balls and remained unbeaten at 55. While Shafali Verma, who struck 28* during the run-chase, became the highest run-scorer in the competition with 184 runs.
