SRH vs RR Overview

Sunrisers Hyderabad made a number of outstanding purchases during the IPL 2023 auctions. After electing Aiden Markram as skipper, the Sunrisers chose Englishman Harry Brook, who seems to be able to strike the cricket ball at will regardless of the format.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, who had a fantastic season last year, will look to make a mark this season too. The England skipper had a fantastic season with the bat last year, scoring more than 800 runs in a single season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will play Rajasthan Royals at their home venue, Rajiv Gandhi International venue, in their opening IPL 2023 game on Friday, April 2.

Form and Fitness of the Players

The form and fitness of the players are crucial factors to consider while selecting the playing 11. Players who are in good form and have a good fitness record are likely to perform better and contribute to the team’s success.

Sunrisers Hyderabad may be without the services of their skipper Aiden Markram as he will be playing the final one-dayer against Netherlands on April 2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Markram’s absence.

Balance of the Team

Success in the IPL depends on a balanced squad. The captain should choose the playing 11 so that it has a decent mix of all-rounders, bowlers, and batsmen.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Abhishek Sharma and Mayank Agarwal are anticipated to start the Sunrisers’ innings. Rahul Tripathi will likely to bat at number 3, followed by players like Harry Brook, Glenn Phillips, and Abdul Samad.

The constantly dependable Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be in charge of the pace department, while the other two pacers in the starting eleven will be Umran Malik and Fazalhaq Farooqi.

The two spinners in the eleven will be Washington Sundar and one of Akeal Hosein or Adil Rashid.

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

The Rajasthan Royals will once again start with the pair of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top. Devdutt Padikkal and Sanju Samson will bat next, while Shimron Hetmyer will share the finisher duties with Riyan Parag, who has been playing well recently in the local season.

RR also have their spin combination pretty much sorted with the duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and leggie Yuzvendra Chahal. Kiwi left-arm pacer Trent Boult will lead the pace bowling attack alongside one of Navdeep Saini or Kuldeep Sen, with Jason Holder will be there as a perfect all-rounder.

SRH vs RR Pitch Report

The playing 11 is heavily influenced by the pitch circumstances. The teams must evaluate the field and the weather before selecting the starting 11. For instance, the squad might choose spinners over pacers if the pitch is dry and dusty.

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is a suitable location to bat first because the pitch is favourable to medium pace bowlers and spin bowlers in the second innings. The surface starts to rotate as the ball approaches the bat slowly. This surface is typically dry and challenging, which helps bowlers with bounce and spin.

SRH vs RR Captains

The captain and vice-captain play a crucial role in decision-making on the field. The team management should select the playing 11 based on the captain and vice-captain’s preferences and strategies.

However, SRH’s new captain Aiden Markram will be absent for the opening game due to South Africa’s ODI match on April 2 against the Netherlands. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will handle the captaincy responsibility in place of Markram for the game against Rajasthan Royals.

Rajasthan just missed the title by an inch last season, but an overall good campaign provided the confidence in RR’s camp that they can win the title soon.

Like the IPL 2022, Sanju Samson is all set to lead the Rajasthan Royals.
