Players CSK should retain for IPL 2025
It was one of those rare seasons when IPL’s most successful franchise, Chennai Super Kings, failed to qualify for the playoffs.
The 5-time champions hold the record of reaching the playoffs maximum number of times, that is 12. Their hopes were ended when they left 10-run short to reach the qualification mark, as despite the same points (14), RCB was qualified due to a slightly better run-rate than CSK.
With the mega auction planned for the next edition of Indian Premier League in 2025, all eyes are on CSK franchise to see who will be retained.

Players CSK should retain for IPL 2025: It is still not confirmed what the possible numbers of retention would be available ahead of the mega auction for IPL 2025 season as some franchises are demanding as many as eight retentions.
But in a case, the board sticks with their 4 maximum retention rules, CSK would likely go with Ruturaj Gaikwad as their first-choice player, while Ravindra Jadeja also find a place.
The biggest question will remain whether MS Dhoni will play the IPL for one more season or not. If yes, then Dhoni will be in the retention for sure otherwise the players who showed some promise in last couple of years may be retained.

Ruturaj Gaikwad
Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the 2024 campaign, and Gaikwad batted well during the whole season, while his captaincy remained decent. CSK will likely to retain to him as their first-choice player, as they are seeing a long-term leader in Gaikwad.

Shivam Dube
Dube has been phenomenal with the bat during the first half of IPL 2024, and his ability to perform well against the spinners provides him with an added advantage to keep the scoreboard tickling during the difficult phase of 7-15 overs in the game.

Matheesha Pathirana
One of the best bowlers for CSK in recent times can restrict the team to a low total with his variation and perfect yorker delivery. With an action similar to another Sri Lanka great Lasith Malinga, Pathirana is sure to be a next big thing in international as well as franchise cricket in the next few years.
