Gujarat Giants beat Bangalore women by 11 runs and register their first win of the tournament

GG vs RCB Match Highlights: Gujarat Giants win their first game of the WPL, but not before they experienced a serious scare. Early on, RCB lost Mandhana, but Heather Knight and Ellyse Perry successfully formed a strong connection. They fought till the very end, but it was not enough to pursue the goal. Gujarat continued to maintain a lead in the game by taking key wickets.

GUJ-W vs RCB-W: Early on in the Innings 

Gujarat Giants chose to bat after winning the toss and set the bar high for their bowlers, shredding RCB-W bowlers once more in the competition.

Gujarat Giants Women have a score of 201 after 20 overs in the sixth game of the WPL 2023. Gujarat Giants Women scored 201 runs in the first innings while losing 7 wickets.

With the dismissal of Sabbhineni Meghana in the third over of the first innings, the RCB ladies got off to a good start. But Gujarat did not give up and fought very hard to bring up a solid total.

With two wickets in her four overs, Heather Knight was one of the top wicket-takers for RCB. In her four overs, Shreyanka Patil also claimed two wickets. To limit GUJ-W to 201/7, Renuka Thakur Singh and Megan Schutt each took one wicket.

GUJ-W vs RCB-W: Star Players of the Match 

Sophia Dunkley ignited the first round of Gujarat’s celebrations with an incredible half-century. She hit incredible shots all over the field before being bowled out for 65 runs off 58 balls in the eighth over of the first innings.

On the other hand, Harleen Deol also played a fantastic knock; as she reached her half-century, she carried the Gujarat innings. Deol scored 67 runs off of 45 balls to end her innings.

Sophie Devine from the RCB-W team played a brilliant inning of 66 runs from 45 balls with 8 four and 2 runs. Even though the target was big Devine made sure that RCB were in the game until the very end moment. 

GUJ-W vs RCB-W: Bangalore fought until the end 

With a huge total to chase RCB-W came on to bat with Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine came to start the innings. Things did not go as planned as the RCB-W skipper Smriti Mandhana lost her wicket after scoring 18 runs.

But after the first wicket, Sophie Devine and Ellyse Perry carried the innings forward and tried their best to chase down the target. They stabilized the innings for some time but then Ellyse Perry was dismissed for 32 runs in the 12 over. 

GUJ-W vs RCB-W: Gujarat Giants Sharp Bowling 

After shining with the bat it was time to shine with the ball. GUJ-W started off pretty well with Smriti Mandhana. Ashleigh Gardner picked up three wickets in her four over. While Annabel Sutherland picked two wickets and Mansi Joshi picked up a wicket to stop RCB-W from chasing the target of 201.

GUJ-W vs RCB-W: What’s Next?

Gujarat Giants will next face Delhi Capitals on 11th March Saturday at 7:30 PM IST and Royal Challengers Bangalore will face UP Warriorz on 10th March Friday at 7:30 PM IST.
