Structure of the SA20 league!
The league will start on January 10 and end on February 11 with games being played at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The franchise-based tournament will begin with a matchup between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals at Newlands in Cape Town. In just over a month, 33 games including two round-robin leagues. Two semifinals and the championship match will be contested around South Africa.
Why SA20 is different to other leagues around the world?
Two semi-finals and the final will be the format instead of a regular playoff structure like the one followed in the IPL. The agenda of the league is to help the youngsters garner experience playing alongside high-profile players and help improve the standard of cricket on the national side.
What’s Going to Happen in the SA20?
From January 10 at Newlands in Cape Town until the opening final on February 11 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. Six teams, all supported by Indian Premier League franchises, are scheduled to compete against one another. We can expect action-packed entertainment from the teams.

Graeme Smith who currently is the SA20 League Commissioner stated out saying “We have worked hard to offer a rewarding and unprecedented incentive in the first season of Betway SA20. This is a first for South African cricket, we have never had this type of competitive incentive in our domestic cricket and it is a further indication of SA20’s ambitions to positively impact South African cricket.”
