Why DRS Is In The News For A Kieron Pollard Single

The batsman immediately went for the analysis when Kieron Pollard was given LBW to Mohammed Shami in the 17th over. The replays showed an inside edge was there, and Pollard was permitted to carry on. Simple enough. Closed Case? Not fully. The ball was, however, considered dead, according to the ICC, and any runs resulting from it will not count against the tally of the batting team. The ball took the inside edge, deflected off the pads in this situation, and the batsmen ran across for a single one. Since a check was omitted from the delivery, however, the run taken off the ball did not count.
