Having regained his pace and fitness, West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel is set to join the Test squad, head coach Phil Simmons said ahead of next month’s three-match series against England. The 32-year-old right-arm quick arrived as one of 11 reserve players in England, having doubts about his fitness following an ankle injury. On Monday, Simmons told British media that Gabriel could join the touring group, and that he looked fit. “He has been at full tilt the last week and he looks good,” Simmons said. “He’s bowling as fast as I’ve seen him for a while, so he’s ready for the test match and close enough.”
