With a victory against Perth Scorchers, reigning champions Brisbane Heat launched their WBBL 06 campaign. The 37-ball 53 of Grace Harris ensured that they were chasing down a target of 133 with three overs to spare. As Maddy Green departed in the third over, the chase did not start well but they were put on course by a quick 24-ball 30-run stand. With just over a run-a-ball, Harris arrived with them and brought the attack to the Scorchers, while Georgia Redmayne played second fiddle. The duo added 78 runs for the third wicket and that was enough to seal the victory.
