Australia’s spin-bowling allrounder Jess Jonassen said in the light of Ellyse Perry’s absence that she is ‘hopeful’ of getting a promotion in the batting order against New Zealand in the ODI series. On Saturday, the first game of the three-match series will be played in Brisbane. The Brisbane Heat captain told a leading sports website, “I am still confident (of a promotion).” “It’s obviously very difficult to get the order on this side at the moment – we have some pretty high-quality players – but I think it’s a very good opportunity for a number of us to fill that middle-order role with ‘Pez’ (Perry) being ruled out of this game.
