Jimmy Neesham to make Big Bash Debut for Hobart Hurricanes

A cricketing star Jimmy Neesham joining the BBL continues the outflow of white-ball talent from New Zealand.

Big Bash League Player Update: Jimmy Neesham, an all-rounder from New Zealand. He now will join the Hobart Hurricanes team for BBL 12 season as an international replacement player and will make his Big Bash League debut.

All-rounder Jimmy Neesham, another classic pillar of New Zealand, will play in the Big Bash League. In order to cover the hole left by Faheem Ashraf, who is a member of Pakistan’s team for the current Test series against England, Neesham, 32, has joined Hobart as an overseas replacement player.

Neesham started off by saying “I’m really excited to be involved with the Big Bash for the first time this year. I’ve heard great things about the Hurricanes set-up. And the list this year looks incredibly strong, so to be able to play even a small part in what I hope will be a successful tournament for the franchise is a really great opportunity for me.”

He then said, “A lot of people say Tasmania is a bit like a mini New Zealand. So I’m looking forward to getting over there. Meeting the guys, and playing the role that is asked of me for the team.”

When Hurricanes international newcomer Shadab Khan is called in for national commitments during Pakistan’s domestic limited-overs series. Another English batter, Zak, will replace him on the team.
