After Tom Banton (Brisbane Heat), Alex Hales became the third player of England to join BBL and Tom Curran (Sydney Sixers), with many players of England to join the trio. Both Curran and Tom Banton had many years contracts but Alex Hales re-appointed for Sydney Thunder with a year contract after a great successful season with them and became the first international player to receive a BBL contract in this COVID-19 pandemic. So far, Hales appeared in 17 matches and scored 576 runs with the help of 6 half-centuries at a strike rate of more than 146 in the last season and became the second-highest run-scorer.
