Abu Jayed, Bangladesh cricketer and pace bowler has been declared positive by Covid-19, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Wednesday. BCB verified the development via a media release and added that all players, except one, had tested negative for COVID-19 from tests carried out on 22 September. “Fast bowler Abu Jayed Chowdhury Rahi declared positive for COVID-19. He will be treated in isolation for COVID as per the guidelines and will undergo further tests in due course,” said Debashish Chowdhury, BCB sports physician.
Abu Jayed Chowdhury (born 2 August 1993) is a Bangladeshi cricketer who plays for Sylhet Division. He made his international debut for the Bangladesh cricket team in February 2018.
In April 2019, he was named in Bangladesh’s One Day International (ODI) squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup, despite being uncapped in an ODI match. He made his ODI debut for Bangladesh the following month, against the West Indies. He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2016–17 National Cricket League tournament, with 29 dismissals.
In August 2018, he was one of twelve debutants to be selected for a 31-man preliminary squad for Bangladesh ahead of the 2018 Asia Cup.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board also mentioned that, Abu Jayed Bangladesh cricketer is the only cricketer tested positive amongst the 26 cricketers who were tested during the residential program. Let’s hope for his speedy recovery.
