Priyam Garg – Indian U-19 captain snapped by SRH for INR 1.90 crores
IPL Auction 2020: After missing the last U-19 World Cup, Garg made a strong comeback in domestic matches. Named as India’s captain for the upcoming edition in South Africa, Garg, despite his family background, decided to make a career in the sport. On his Ranji Trophy debut, Garg scored a brilliant century against Goa for Uttar Pradesh. With his unbeaten 814 runs in 10 games at an average of 68, Garg is just outside of the top-10 run-getters in the 2018-19 season. He caught the attention of the junior cricket’s head coach, Rahul Dravid. Recently, Garg hit a brisk 77-ball 74 in the Deodhar Trophy final on a slower pitch in Ranchi when others failed around him.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is an all-rounder bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 2.4 crores
A 10-year-old Jaiswal was brought to Mumbai to pursue his cricket dreams by his father. Jaiswal stayed in a tent house for 3 years because he could not afford it. His moment of national reckoning came when he hit a brilliant 203 to help Mumbai’s win over Jharkhand in the 2019 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was the youngest male cricketer to score a List A double hundred. This left-handed opener completed his batting as the fifth-highest run-getter in this competition with 564 runs in six games, which included three centuries. He then earned a spot in India’s squad for the upcoming Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. After Jaiswal got selected for the Rajasthan Royals team, he celebrated it with his coach and family members.
Kartik Tyagi – Right-arm medium-fast Bowler auctioned to RR for INR 1.3 crores
A teenage boy from a small town in Uttar Pradesh with less cricketing facilities got a golden opportunity. The former Uttar Pradesh Capitan Rizwan Shamshad was impressed by Tyagi’s performance at a selection trail. Tyagi has the capability of swinging the ball both ways. Karthik Tyagi played as a 17-year-old for the Uttar Pradesh team in Ranji Trophy and was a crucial bowler against defending champions Vidarbha.
Virat Singh – Left-handed batsmen sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 1.9 crores
Virat Singh made his debut for Jharkhand in domestic cricket. His 56*(32) against Gujarat and 76*(44) against Karnataka made him a valuable player at the auctions. Virat struck well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy — the domestic one-day tournament. He is a big fan of MS Dhoni.
Ravi Bishnoi – Right arm All-Rounder bought by KXIP for INR 2 Crores
IPL Auction 2020: Two years ago, Bishnoi was almost withdrawn from playing final for his state in the under–16 tournament. Luckily, at Jodhpur’s Spartan Cricket Academy, his coaches Pradyot Rathod and Sharukh Patha convinced his father to let him continue playing cricket. He can bowl a good stock ball and a nice googly. His economy rate of 4.37 in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy convinced IPL teams to buy him.
