Pakistan Secure Semi-final Spot After Dominant Finish vs Namibia

Pakistan’s chances of winning the T20 World Cup in 2021 are improving all the time. At the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, the Babar Azam-led team thrashed Namibia by 45 runs. In Group 2, they are at the lead of the standings. In terms of the Namibian team, they have already lost back-to-back games and require a victory to get their stretch of games back on the right track, Pakistan had a solid start after winning the toss and deciding to bat first, scoring only 59 runs in their first 10 overs. To begin with, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam were cautious to take the Reins. The Men in Green scored 130 runs in their remaining ten overs. As he neared his half-century off 39 balls, Babar began to accelerate.

Babar then went on to score a 49-ball 70 with 7 fours before being dismissed by David Wiese. Fakhar Zaman didn’t survive long, since he was the first victim of Jan Frylinck. Mohammad Hafeez came out strong, scoring a quickfire 16-ball 32 that included 5 fours. Meanwhile, Rizwan batted to the very end, finishing on 79 off 50 with 8 fours and 4 sixes.

Williams appeared to be in fine form with the bat

To begin their run chase, Namibia lost the wicket of Michael van Lingen cheaply. Hasan Ali hit the first blow with a kingside attack opening. For Namibia, Stephan Baard and Craig Williams added 47 runs for the 2nd wicket to remain alive. Before being run out, Baard, who had made a comeback into the XI, achieved a run-a-ball 29. On the other hand, Williams appeared to be in fine form with the bat.

Shadab Khan decided to get rid of him in the 14th over after he hit 40 with 5 fours and a six. Imad Wasim had already shown Gerhard Erasmus the route to the pavilion. Haris Rauf took his first wicket by trapping JJ Smit. David Wiese smashed out 43 off 30 deliveries, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. His efforts, though, were never proved to be enough to get Namibia near to Pakistan’s score.
