Michael Vaughan Wants Virat Kohli To Be More ‘Selfish’ In The 2nd T20I

England outplayed India in all three departments in the first T20I yesterday and won comfortably with 27 balls left to play. England team is a contender to win the T20 World Cup trophy in October this year with way too many powerhouse performers. The Indian team’s white-ball stars will be aiming to put up an improved batting effort in the second T20 International against England here on Sunday.

It was India’s first white-ball game in three months and the rustiness of some of the premier shorter format players like KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal’s showed in the first game in which the hosts were clinically outplayed.

India captain Virat Kohli struggle with the bat continues as he was dismissed for a duck during the first T20I between India and England in Ahmedabad on Friday. This was the third time when Kohli was dismissed for a duck in his last five innings in international cricket.

Despite the India captain’s ordinary run with the bat, former England captain and cricket expert Michael Vaughan is not too concerned about Kohli and feels that his best is around the corner. Vaughan believes that if India is aiming to win the T20 world cup later this year than they need Kohli batting at his best. He added that Kohli should take his time when he is at the crease as he has the ability to accelerate once he is set.

Micheal Vaughan Feels Virat Kohli ‘Selfish’ Will Serve Better To The Team

“For India to get those big scores, be really effective, and go on to win the T20 World Cup, it will serve the team better if Virat Kohli Selfish. A little bit more selfish in the first few deliveries gives himself ten balls to get in. Even if he leaves out 3-4 balls in that, you know a couple of boundaries, and he will be on his way,” said Vaughan in a chat with Cricbuzz.

“He doesn’t seem like a character who would be too concerned (about his poor form). My advice would be to give himself more of a chance. Look at the way he got out today, trying to wack one away over mid-off early. I think he is a better player than that. I think he could give himself a few more balls. When you go through a period when it doesn’t seem to be going your way, the best way to get out of that kind of run of low scores is just to stay out there and take up a few more balls. You know Virat Kohli would certainly catch up; he’s got all the game and the skills to be able to do so” Vaughan concluded.

We’re definitely not watching a T20 ton from Virat Kohli but fans will really love to see him get back into his form and that will be a trouble of England once he’s a man in form. The second match of the five-match T20I series starts in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 12.
