Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) former captain Dinesh Karthik is gearing up for the upcoming Indian Premier League season which is scheduled to begin on Friday. KKR will be up against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first match of the season.
Dinesh Karthik Revealed His Favourite Batting Partner
Dinesh Karthik gave up KKR captaincy in the middle of IPL 2020 after a poor form of the team and as a captain, he could not play his natural game. England’s T20I skipper Eoin Morgan replaced Karthik in the middle of the season. In a recent Q&A session on Twitter, Karthik named Eoin Morgan as his favourite batting partner. There is no bad blood between them as they have partnered on few occasions to try and win matches for their team.
Dinesh Karthik revealed in a Twitter Q&A that Morgan is his favourite batting partner. “My favourite partner has to be @Eoin16. He never talks cricket in the middle, only random stuff…I enjoy doing that!” replied Karthik.
Later on another question from a fan on who’ll be most exciting KKR recruitment? Dinesh Karthik answered that Bangladesh’s all-Rounder, Shakib Al Hasan will be exciting recruitment for the franchise. “It’s always great to have Shakib Al Hasan with us, he has been a very exciting recruit for us. He has played with KKR before so it’s great to have him back in our team,” Karthik replied.
Shakib-al-Hasan became Kolkata Knight Riders’ costliest buy after the franchises bought him for Rs. 3.2 crore. The Bangladesh all-rounder was part of KKR in IPL 2012 and IPL 2014- the seasons in which Kolkata Knight Riders lifted the IPL trophies.
KKR also bought players like Harbhajan Singh, Ben Cutting, Karun Nair and Sheldon Jackson who have great chances of getting into the team. KKR has not been up to the mark recently and they’ve not been in the playoffs for the last 2 years. They’ve earlier qualified for previous editions in 2016-2018.
Andre Russell’s performance who has failed to make any sort of impact in the last IPL with the bat and top-order batsmen has been an issue last year. Dinesh Karthik captaincy was poor. KKR would like to improve in all these areas and get back in form this year.
