BCB To Induct A Sports Psychologist

BCB Aims To Have A Sports Psychologist In Their Cricket Team:

The Bangladesh Cricket Board aims to have a sports psychologist in its national cricket team and a high-performance unit in the coming days, BCB Chief Physician Debashish Chowdhury stated a leading sports website.

A BCB official said that they would assess the development of the Bangladesh Women and Under-19 side in the coming days as they would be having sessions with Ali Khan, a Bangladesh-born Canadian sports psychologist, who has worked previously with Bangladesh’s national cricketers on two occasions.

BCB Game Production and Women’s Wing Chair on Saturday accepted the proposal to hire a sports psychologist after the BCB’s medical staff recently presented the proposal to members in their respective wings.

“Today, we have received the approval of BCB’s game development and women’s wing, and it has been agreed that we will put the under-19s and women’s sides into the hands of these psychologists as soon as possible,” Chowdhury said.

“And in the future, we have plans to slowly put High Performance and the national team under the influence of these sessions, but we’re looking at how they operate on a test basis. While our primary discussion with [Ali] is over and he said he wanted three to five sessions, we had to discuss some more of these technical issues with him. We plan to do this in three days, so if anyone wants a separate special session, we’ll arrange a separate special session for them.

Debashish added that Ali was selected by other candidates as he spoke Bengali and had a special mode of operation.
“One of the reasons we chose him is that he speaks Bengali, and he has an understanding of our culture.

We first thought of bringing in a sports psychologist. Later, we felt that now, because of the current situation, the value of a mental trainer is more than that of a sports psychologist.”

“We ‘re starting this way, but that doesn’t imply we don’t need a sports psychologist. We’ll certainly add that in the future if it’s needed, but at the moment we think the mental trainer is going to be more fitting” added Debashish.
