Rohit Sharma set to travel with Indian team on November 10 for BGT

Will Rohit Sharma travel with team India for BGT?

Team India will be on their toughest tour of the season, as they have to face Australia in Australia for the 5-match Border-Gavaskar series, starting November 22. Let’s take a loot at Will Rohit Sharma travel with team India for BGT.

According to a Insidesport, the Indian team will travel to Australia in two phases. The first batch will fly on November 10 and the second on November 11 due to logistical limitations.

With team reaching Australia 10-11 days prior to the first test, it will provide them more time to adapt the conditions and prepare well in the nets.

Rohit Sharma’s participation in BGT 2024-25

India regular skipper will reportedly miss the opening test match of the BGT 2024-25 due to personal reasons. But the leader of the group is set to travel with the Indian team in order practice in Australian conditions for the crucial series.

Jasprit Bumrah, the designated vice-captain of Indian test team, will likely to lead the side in the Perth test in Rohit’s absence.

A 3-0 series defeat versus New Zealand dented India’s chances for WTC 2025 final, only a 4-0 win over Australia will give them the opportunity independently of the outcomes of other teams. While the Indian team can still qualify with 3 wins, but they will then depend on results of other teams.

KL Rahul to open in place of Rohit Sharma in Perth Test?

KL Rahul was landed earlier in Australia and took part in India A vs Australia A second test for BGT preparations. Rahul, who was seen batting in lower-middle order in recent international tests, opened the innings for India A, but remain unimpactful.

The wicketkeeper batter was out for only four, while he only managed to score 10 in the second innings. While another opener in India’s squad, Abhimanyu Easwaran, was also failed to impress, as he hit just 36 in four innings.

Australia is currently in number 1 spot on WTC standings, while India is in second place. BGT results will clear the picture whether India or Australia will reach WTC 2025 final.
