ICC Annual Conference 2025: What’s on the Agenda for Cricket’s Future?

Will India Play Pakistan Again? ICC to Decide in July 2025 Meeting

ICC (International Cricket Council) has scheduled the annual press conference for 2025 from July 17-20 in Singapore. The meeting will look into some principal agendas like India-Pakistan cricket future and a revamping of the U19 Men’s World Cup. Before we delve deep into the topic, let’s take a look at Will India play Pakistan Again? ICC to decide in July 2025 Meeting.

Why is the India-Pakistan Issue a big concern?

Whenever India and Pakistan share the pitch, every match has gone down to be an instant classic, be it either T20 or ODI format. Since the recent terror attacks in Pahalgam, India has been fairly strict towards Pakistan. With high-border tensions, even the IPL 2025 was suspended for a week.

The ICC Annual Conference in Singapore has reportedly made this issue an agenda to be discussed and possibly come to a conclusion. As there have been reports of BCCI reportedly thinking about pulling out of the Asia Cup, however, the BCCI has not made any official statements regarding this.

India-Pakistan has a rich history in this game of cricket, and ICC discussing this sensitive issue should hopefully resolve. As India and Pakistan matches hold a lot more than just rivalries, and with the Asia Cup coming up, fans would like to know about their participation and if the tournament goes on or not.

ICC Men’s U19 World Cup & Other Discussions

The other discussion in the meeting might include the growing support for the introduction of a single ball rule after the 25th over to aid bowlers in utilizing reverse swing, particularly during the death overs. Another proposed change is a 60-second time limit between overs in Test cricket, alongside in-game clocks to assist captains with time management.

The ICC is also considering restructuring age-group cricket, with a possible shift of the U-19 Men’s World Cup to a T20 format, just like the Women’s tournament. Additionally, three new representatives from Associate nations will be elected to the ICC’s Chief Executives Committee for a two-year term in these meetings. What changes have been made and how does the future of the sport look like, will be unveiled during June 17-20.
