WI vs AUS: Kieron Pollard’s Strange Act Stuns The Fans

West Indies kept themselves alive in their three-match ODI series against Australia after a dominating win in the 2nd ODI. The Baggy Greens won the toss and decided to bat first. However, the Australians failed to come up big on the scoreboard as they got all-out for just 187 runs. The West Indians chased the total in 38 overs and with 4 wickets on hand. However, something really strange happened during the course of the match. Here are the details of WI vs AUS ODI Series.

WI vs AUS 2nd ODI: What happened during the match?

West Indies’ Akeal Hosein bowled a no-ball in the 16th over of the match. As per the rules, the captain is not allowed to change the fielding in the next ball of the no-ball. However, skipper Kieron Pollard, who was placed at short leg, decided to move from his position.

Pollard, rather than standing in the short leg, went off the field as the Windies were cut to just 10 fielders. Pollard didn’t explain the reason behind his strange act. However, the internet was filled with questions as the viewers were both surprised and shocked by Pollard’s call to leave the field. Some netizens also compared the situation to the one in which former English off-spinner Graeme Swann acted the same way in an ODI against Australia. Swann just left the pitch and was spotted standing outside the boundaries with his helmet on.

WI vs AUS 2nd ODI: Everything to win in the 3rd ODI

West Indies bowlers were all over the Australians as Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein bagged three wickets each. The dynamic duo dominated the Aussi batsmen and didn’t give hand them a room to breath throughout the first innings. Wes Agar (41) and Matthew Wade (36) were the only two batsmen who came up with the goods for the Australians in the first innings.

The second ODI was postponed from its original date due to few COVID-19 scares in the bio-bubble. However, it was re-scheduled and played on Saturday, July 24th. West Indies recovered well from a humiliating first ODI loss. The third and final ODI of the series will be played on Monday, July 26. Both the teams will be keen to win the decider and take the trophy home. And to also add some required points to the ICC Super League.
