India’s stance on the Champions Trophy 2025
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) are strongly committed to not participating in the tournament if Team India’s matches are hosted in Pakistan. Team India has not toured Pakistan since 2008, because of the strained political relations and security concerns. Which makes it difficult for India to participate in events held in Pakistan, including this upcoming ICC tournament.
What does ICC emergency meeting for CT 2025 mean?
The ICC has been calling this meeting to propose two options to resolve this ongoing dispute between the BCCI and PCB regarding the 2025 Champions Trophy. The first option includes hosting three of India’s group stage matches, one semi-final, and the final in a neutral country, with the UAE as the likely venue due to its proximity to both Pakistan and India.
The second option suggests that if India does not qualify for the knockouts, both the semi-finals and the final will be held in Pakistan. Sources have also indicated that the meeting may extend beyond 24 hours, with the parties working towards a resolution in the coming days.
