Why Rohit Sharma is not playing in today Match?
Mumbai Indians suffered a setback ahead of their IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants as star opener Rohit Sharma was ruled out due to a knee injury. So let’s know Why Rohit Sharma is not playing in today Match.
“Rohit got hit on the knee in nets and he misses out,” revealed MI captain Hardik Pandya at the toss.
In Rohit’s absence, Mumbai made two key changes to their playing XI. England’s Will Jacks comes in as a direct replacement, while young all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa makes his debut for the franchise, taking the spot of Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Additionally, Raj Bawa has replaced Robin Minz in the squad.
Rohit has had a slow start to the season, scoring just 21 runs across three matches. He featured as an Impact Player in the last game but failed to leave a mark.
Tilak Varma is expected to serve as MI’s impact substitute in this match as well.
Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first, taking into account the black-soil pitch at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The ground has one shorter boundary compared to previous matches, and historically, five of the last six IPL games here have favored the chasing team. However, dew is unlikely to be a factor tonight.
Mumbai Indians come into the match on the back of a convincing win against Kolkata Knight Riders, having bounced back after two opening defeats.
Meanwhile, LSG appears to be searching for consistency. Despite a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier, their recent loss to Punjab Kings exposed some vulnerabilities. Batters like Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram are yet to hit top form, although their bowling has been solid, led by an in-form Shardul Thakur and Digvesh Rathi.
