Cricket Australia have announced their squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka, their regular skipper’s name has been missed from the squad. Let’s know that Why Pat Cummins not include in Australia squad.
In place of Pat Cummins, Steve Smith has been appointed as the captain for the two-match series, starting January 29.
Apart from Pat Cummins, star bowler Josh Hazlewood has also been left out from the squad, as he is recovering from a calf injury, while Mitchell Marsh also missed the cut.
Young batters Sam Konstas and Nathan McSweeney have been included in the squad, and it be interesting to see how they perform on the sub-continent pitches.

Pat Cummins has already confirmed his non-availability for at least the first Test of the series while awaits the birth of his second kid. And he requires to have scans on his ankle.
Cummins ankle was monitored during the Test summer, he played all five games of the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Australia won the second edition of WTC (World Test Championship) in 2023, won the ODI World Cup in the same year, and recently claimed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after ten long years all under Pat Cummins leadership.
The two-match Test series against Sri Lanka is a part of WTC 2023-25 cycle; however, Australia have already qualified for the WTC final, therefore Cummins unavailability will not affect the team much.
Mitchell Starc will lead the pacer’s department, while BGT star Scott Boland also made the cut. Seasoned batter Travis Head will be the vice-captain of team Australia in this series.
