Why ICC Champions Trophy Board Meeting Postponed?
The ICC Board meeting regarding the Champions Trophy has been postponed once again, with no resolution to the ongoing deadlock between BCCI and PCB. India has confirmed it will not participate in the tournament in Pakistan, while the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rejected alternative proposals such as the hybrid model.
What Happened in Jay Shah’s Meeting with ICC Members and Staff in Dubai?
Earlier, Jay Shah, the newly-appointed ICC Chairman, convened his first meeting at the ICC headquarters in Dubai to discuss the potential hybrid model for the tournament.
Following India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy over security concerns and its demand for a hybrid model, the PCB has indicated it might boycott the tournament.
However, the reports suggest that Pakistan had previously agreed to a hybrid model with full hosting rights after a recent meeting but requested that the same rules apply to the global cricket tournament hosted in India.
During the meeting, Jay Shah, met with ICC members and staff in Dubai, outlining his vision to elevate cricket to new heights. He discussed strategies for the sport’s future and expressed confidence in achieving his goals. Shah emphasized that the hard work begins now.
Jay Shah told on ICC media “This visit provided an invaluable opportunity to connect with my colleagues on the ICC Board where we discussed the initial roadmap and strategies to shape the future of this incredible sport,”
“I was equally delighted to meet with the dedicated ICC team working tirelessly behind the scenes to propel cricket forward.
“While I am encouraged by what I have seen, I recognize that this is just the beginning. The hard work to elevate cricket to unprecedented heights starts now, and I am confident that together, we will deliver on this vision.”Jay Shah added. Quoted by Times of India.
