Between 2007 and 2009, he also captained Bangladesh in 13 Tests before stepping away from the international arena in 2013.

4. Tamim Iqbal – 70 Tests

Explosive opener Tamim Iqbal burst into Test cricket in 2008 after a successful run in the 2007 World Cup. He played 70 Test matches, amassing 5,134 runs from 134 innings at nearly 40, including a famous double-century against Pakistan in Khulna in 2015.

Tamim’s final Test appearance came in April 2023 against Ireland in Mirpur.

3. Shakib Al Hasan – 71 Tests

A modern-day Bangladesh great, Shakib Al Hasan has featured in 71 Tests since his debut in 2007. Shakib is Bangladesh’s highest Test wicket-taker with 246 wickets, while also scoring 4,609 runs at an average of 37.77, confirming his status as one of the finest all-rounders in world cricket.

He led Bangladesh in 19 Tests, including the country’s first-ever overseas Test series win in 2009 in the West Indies.

2. Mominul Haque – 75 Tests

Top-order batter Mominul Haque has represented Bangladesh in 75 Tests, making his debut in Sri Lanka in 2013. One of Bangladesh’s most reliable red-ball cricketers, Mominul has scored nearly 5,000 runs at an average of 37.28, including 13 centuries and 24 fifties.

He has also chipped in with crucial wickets, including a memorable 3-4 spell against New Zealand in 2023.

1. Mushfiqur Rahim – 100 Tests

With his landmark appearance on November 19, 2025, Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladeshi player to reach 100 Test matches. In perspective, Bangladesh has played 156 Tests since joining Test cricket in 2000, meaning Rahim has been part of nearly two-thirds of the team’s entire red-ball journey.

The experienced wicketkeeper has also captained Bangladesh in 34 Tests, leading them to a national record of seven wins and nine draws. Rahim is also the nation’s highest run-scorer in Tests, with over 6,000 runs at an average of 38.37, and is second on the all-time centuries list with 12 Test hundreds.
