We Are Willing To Play A One-off Test vs ENG As Well: Jay Shah

Since the cancellation of the 5th and final Test match between England and India, which was set to take place at Old Trafford in Manchester, lots of new allegations have surfaced. The cancellation has unquestionably affected the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) a significant financial loss, so BCCI secretary jay shah has given a reaction to Compensate the ECB losses.

The Indian cricketing board BCCI has asked the ECB to play 2 more T20Is to solve the problem and help the English board recover some of their losses. However, there is one restriction attached to this prospect. The ECB has been urging BCCI to agree that the game was forfeited since the insurance company would reimburse the losses.

The BCCI, on the other hand, has maintained that the match was really cancelled due to COVID. If the ECB does not seek forfeiture, the offer of 2 more T20Is during India’s visit to England next year would be on hold.

It is up to them to choose either of the offers: Jay Shah

It is correct that we have offered to play two extra T20Is when we visit England next July (only for the white-ball games). Instead of three T20Is, we will play five T20Is. Alternatively, we will be willing to play a one-off Test as well. It is up to them to choose either of the offers,” Jay Shah told.

It’s worth noting that BCCI’s offer specifies either a one-off Test or two more T20Is. In July of next year, India will play 3 T20Is and as many ODIs in England. The ECB’s overall loss as a result of the cancelled Test is projected to be in the region of 40 million pounds. The ECB will not be able to collect insurance if the match is considered to be cancelled owing to COVID.

It should also be mentioned that there have been allegations that the ECB has approached the Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The Indian delegation must forfeit the Manchester Test.
