Former Pakistan cricketer Waqar Younis has recently made a controversial statement while speaking to a TV network in Pakistan. And his statements were viral on Social media and many supporters and cricket experts have slammed Younis for his remarks.
During the India-Pak match Pakistan opener, Mohammad Rizwan offered “NAMAZ” during the drinks break in the game against India and His words on this incident did not go down well with fans across the sub-continent.
In that interview he said – “Sabse acchhi baat jo Rizwan ne ki. Usne ground mein khade hoke Naamaz padhi, Hinduon ke beech mein….So that was really something very very special for me. (The best thing was what [Mohammad] Rizwan did. He offered Namaz prayers in the middle of the ground, in front of Hindus).”
He has later apologized on Twitter by saying he had made the comment “in the heat of the moment” and termed it as a “genuine mistake”.
Younis has tweeted stating – “In the heat of the moment, I said something which I did not mean which has hurt the sentiments of many. I apologise for this, this was not intended at all, genuine mistake. Sports unites people regardless of race, colour or religion. #apologies,”
