Trent Boult set to return for international cricket as New Zealand Prepares for ICC ODI World Cup 2023

Trent Boult is slated to return to the national team setup, which will greatly aid New Zealand’s preparations for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. After declaring his intention to compete in the World Cup, the great pacer made a commitment to the group. On Wednesday, June 7, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced new full-time contracts for 20 players and extended a casual playing arrangement to Boult.

In August 2022, 33-year-old Boult made the decision to forego a full-time contract with the Kiwis in order to concentrate on playing franchise cricket and to spend more time with his family. He last participated in a match against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup semi-finals in November. He was a member of the Rajasthan Royals in the just finished Indian Premier League 2023.

But, according to an ICC report, Boult and NZC wanted to reach an understanding before the player returned to the national team system. Boult is now anticipated to be a member of New Zealand’s lineup for the ODI World Cup in India, which would undoubtedly improve the Kiwis’ chances in the massive competition.

A full-time contract was also extended by NZC to veteran pacer Adam Milne in response to his outstanding efforts in the most recent ODIs against Pakistan. Gary Stead, the head coach of New Zealand, cited right-arm pacer Milne’s outstanding recent results as proof that the right-armer deserved the contract offer.

“Adam’s worked exceptionally hard and has shown good resilience over the past few years to be in a position to earn this contract offer,” Stead said. “He’s always been a top-class bowler and we were impressed by his consistent contributions in the recent home summer and tour of Pakistan.”

For 2023–24, New Zealand Players has offered central contracts: Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Blair Tickner, Neil Wagner, Kane Williamson, Will Young, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway,
