“Gill and Rana About To Shock The World” – David Hussey

The chief mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mr. David Hussey has praised Shubhman Gill and Nitish Rana for their contribution to the franchise. This opening pair of Gill and Rana will be crucial for KKR this year, and the former cricketer has said that this DUO can “Shock The World”.

In a recent interview, David Hussey said  – “Both quality players. Both are quality people too. They are both determined to do very well for this team and themselves. Both have had a taste of international cricket and I think they are about to shock the world that they are the next generation of Indian players.”

He further added – “Not just for one or two series. They are there for a decade, long time. If they get going, look out for us at the IPL“.

Gill has not given his best during the 1st phase of the tournament and has scored only 132 runs in 7 games with the highest score of 43. He was featured in the starting 11 of Team India in World Test Championship Final against New Zealand – Despite his poor form, he was the mainstream opening batsman for his national side.

He recently had to pull out of the England tour due to a small injury on his left leg. Now he has recovered successfully from that and seen practicing hard in the KKR camp.

Well, on the other hand, Nitish Rana was that one constant run-machine for KKR in this season. He has scored a total of 201 runs in 7 games with the highest score of 80.

The 27-year-old was recently a part of Team India in the T20I and ODI formats during the Sri Lankan tour, which was led by Shikhar Dhawan.

The 2nd phase of IPL 2021 will kick start on 19th September 2021, and the first match is scheduled between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Mumbai Indians (MI). And KKR will start their campaign on 20th September against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
