SRH vs RR Qualifier 2 Highlights: Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen launch Hyderabad into IPL finals

SRH vs RR Qualifier 2 Highlights

Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen starred for SRH when it mattered the most as Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs to enter the finale of IPL 2024.

Klaasen showed his experienced side by scoring a handy fifty for his team to guide them to 175. Abhishek Sharma, who displayed his power with the bat this season, excelled with the ball in the second qualifier, as his 24 for 2 and Shahbaz Ahmed’s 3-wicket haul made the big difference that helped SRH win the game.

Rajasthan Royals once again decided to invite the opposition to bat first similar to what they did in eliminator.

The Royals followed the same path and restricted the destructive Sunrisers Hyderabad to 175 in Chennai.

Abhishek Sharma (12) and Travis Head (34), both the big guns failed to play big knocks for Hyderabad. While their third best Klaasen played a good knock of 34-ball 50 to rescue the side.

Rahul Tripathi (37 off 15) was the only batter for SRH who played in a style which his side’s batsmen are known for.

However, the conditions in Chennai were not as favourable as those of Ahmedabad, as it was little difficult to score freely at this venue.

Rajasthan, in reply, looked in a bit pressure, especially their English batter Tom Kohler Cadmore due to excessive humid conditions and his out of form touch. Cadmore was dismissed for 10 after playing 16 balls.

With 32 for 1 after 5, the Royals were extremely behind in the game before Jaiswal soaked up all the pressure as he collected 19 from the last over of powerplay bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

But Jaiswal failed to make a good start to a big knock and walked back after a 21-ball-42.

There was a big responsibility of skipper Sanju Samson’s shoulders to lead his side from front, but he took the not the regular Abhishek Sharma lightly, which cost him his wicket.

Shahbaz Ahmed then took the wickets of Royals highest run-scorer Riyan Parag and Ravichandran Ashwin and ended his spell at 4-0-23-3. While the out of syllabus bowler, Abhishek Sharma, grabbed 2 wickets for SRH.
