South Africa have selected their best squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series, starting December 17. So let’s take a look at South Africa squad for ODI series vs Pakistan.
The team will be led by regular skipper Temba Bavuma, while all the big names such as Heinrich Klassen, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj are also part of the squad.
The intention behind choosing the strongest squad is to prepare the team for the next ICC mega event, ICC Champions Trophy, which is expected to start on February 19, 2025.
Batting department looks solid with the presence of Ryan Rickelton, Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma at the top. Tristan Stubbs, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller, the power-packed trio will provide the Proteas with much-needed strength in the middle order.
Some pace veterans like Anrich Nortje, Wiaan Mulder, Lundi Ngidi, Gerald Coetzee, and Nandre Burger were not considered for the series due to injuries.
Right-arm quick Kagiso Rabada will lead the pace attack, while Ottneil Baartman and the young Kwena Maphaka have also been included in the squad.
Marco Jensen and Andile Phehlukwayo have been added as medium pace all-rounders. While Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi were included as specialist spinners.

The first ODI of the 3-match series will take place on December 17 at the Boland Park in Paarl, followed by the second game on December 19 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, the third and final one-day match to be played on December 22 at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
Proteas and Pakistan will face off in the next 2-match test contest after the conclusion of the ODI series.

South Africa will once again face Pakistan in a tri-series in February next year which also features New Zealand right before the start of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
