SL vs NZ 1st Test Day 2 Update: In an exhilarating match at Galle International Stadium, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. During their first innings, Sri Lanka posted a total of 305 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 91.5 overs.

The Sri Lankan batsmen put on an impressive display, with Kamindu Mendis scoring 114 runs off 173 balls and Kusal Mendis contributing 50 runs from 68 deliveries. Their outstanding performance was instrumental in helping Sri Lanka achieve their formidable total.

On the first day of the match, during Sri Lanka’s innings, New Zealand’s star pacer William O’Rourke took an impressive 5 wickets, conceding 55 runs. Additionally, Ajaz Patel and Glenn Phillips each contributed by taking 2 wickets.

Moving on to the second day, before the lunch break, New Zealand was trailing by 300 runs. However, following the lunch break, they made a strong comeback. Tom Latham played a crucial innings, scoring 70 runs off 111 balls, while Kane Williamson also made a significant contribution with 55 runs off 104 balls, allowing New Zealand to gain control of the game.

After Day 2, New Zealand found themselves trailing by 50 runs. Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell were at the crease, with Daryl Mitchell scoring 41 runs off 60 deliveries and Tom Blundell contributing 18 runs off 52 balls. Both batsmen remained unbeaten and are set to resume their innings on the following day of this Test match. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s captain, Dhananjaya de Silva, managed to claim 2 wickets during New Zealand’s batting innings.
