Shashank Manohar To Step Down As ICC Chairman Post!

On Wednesday, the International Cricket Council said its Chairman Shashank Manohar plans remain until the “smooth transition” takes place. while reports speculated that former India captain Sourav Ganguly is considering standing.

Manohar, Indian administrator who became the first independent president of the ICC in 2016, has denied a third term.

The global governing body of the game said no final decision on the voting process had made, but on Thursday, the issue would have addressed further.

There had been ideas that, Ganguly, current president of BCCI is interested in taking that role, and Colin Graves, who had recently retired as Chief Executive Officer of England and Wales Crickets Board would succeed Manohar.

South African cricket director Graeme Smith has supported former test captain Ganguly and said, “It’s time for someone who is similar to the modern game and has leadership qualities.”

The ICC also suggested that Australia’s Men’s Twenty20 World Cup, scheduled to start in October, had been “inaccurately” postponed because of the coronavirus, but that contingencies were being discussed.

A delay could allow the Indian Premier League, which has already postponed, to move on.

Pat Cummins, the Australia fast bowler, said: “If it opens a window, I believe the IPL would be perfect.”

Yet the ICC said: “The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 postponement reports are inconsistent and planning continues.”
