South African Pacers Dominate Afghanistan to Entry Finals of T20 World Cup 2024

SA vs AFG Semifinal Match Highlights

SA vs AFG Semifinal Match Highlights: In the historical turn of events it only took a few hours for South Africa to dismantle the motivated Afghanistan side to enter the finals of T20 World Cup 2024. The match was completely dominated by the Proteas starting with the ball and then it was pretty much an easy job with the bat. In the end, South Africa defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets to reach the finals.

The game was not too long as the South African pacers closed the Afghanistan innings for 56 runs in 11.5 overs. Earlier after winning the toss the Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan decided to bat first considering their bowling strengths and pitch conditions, however, it did not go as planned.

Expect for Azmatullah 10 runs no one really scored two-digit runs for Afghanistan in this first semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024. A total of seven players were dismissed under five runs which was even worse making it tough for Afghanistan bowlers to defend the target.

Proteas Pace Attack Ready for Glory

Marco Jansen was literally the hero of the match where he was the one who started the crushing of the Afghanistan team. He cleaned up the first three batters of Afghanistan in a matter of time. Shamsi was also crucial when it came to spin bowling as he also picked up three wickets adding to vows of Afghanistan in this important clash of the tournament.

Nortje and Rabada also chipped in with two wickets each and all these combined efforts from the Proteas bowlers left Afghanistan handing on 56/10 in 11.5 overs. This also shows the real powers of South African bowlers and this will be a huge advantage for them going into the finals of the World Cup. Moreover, this will be the first time they break their semifinal curse and reach the finals of the ICC World Cup.

What Went Wrong for Afghanistan

The lack of a good total on the board was certainly a huge mistake for them. Usually, they scored runs first, and with the help of key bowlers they used to restrict teams, but here the case was completely different. Afghanistan batters were unable to score runs and with less target on the board, it was quite a mountain to climb for the Afghanistan bowlers in order to restrict South Africa from chasing a very low score of 56.

Conclusion: South Africa beat Afghanistan by 9 wickets

Afghanistan have some wonderful cricket throughout the tournament and they can be proud of themself for reaching the semifinals of the ICC tournament. South Africa on the other hand will be waiting for their opponents in the finals where they will take on the winner of the IND vs ENG semifinal 2 game.
