SA Government Promises Secure Bio-bubble For Team India

There were a lot of questions raised on SA vs IND Test Series because of the new covid variant “Omicron”. Speaking on this issue the hosts’ foreign ministry has indicated that the touring Indian players will be kept in a safe bio-secure venue. The administration also praised the BCCI for not withdrawing its “A” squad despite the fear sparked by the identification of the new variant.

The ‘A’ side of India is presently in South Africa for 3 informal Test matches. The senior squad is set to perform 3 Tests beginning December 17, backed by the same number of ODIs and 4 T20Is. The Indian squad is slated to arrive in the host country on December 9. As a result, the ministry praised the BCCI for not allowing the ongoing India ‘A’ trip to be threatened.

This event will also serve to highlight the strong ties between South Africa and India – SA vs IND

“South Africa will take all precautions necessary to ensure the health and safety of the Indian teams. A full Bio-secure environment will be established around both the South African and Indian ‘A’ Teams as well as the two National Teams”.

“India’s decision to show solidarity by choosing to continue with the tour of the Indian ‘A’ Team stands in contrast with a number of countries who have decided to close their borders and to restrict travel from Southern African,” the country’s foreign ministry, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO).

The First Test match between India and South Africa will be held in Johannesburg, with the 2nd match taking place in Centurion. After the International Cricket Council (ICC) excluded South Africa owing to its racist stance, India became the first country to host the SA squad in 1991. The Indian tour coincides with the 30th anniversary of South Africa’s re-entry into the international tour.

“The tour of the Indian National Team marks the 30th anniversary of South Africa’s readmission to international cricket. The anniversary will be celebrated by a commemorative event that will take place on January 2, 2022, in Cape Town. This event will also serve to highlight the strong ties between South Africa and India, which is once again demonstrated by the tour of the two Indian teams,” the ministry statement read.
