Rohit Sharma Named Ambassador for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

Rohit Sharma Announced as T20 World Cup 2026 Ambassador

In a major announcement ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, former India captain Rohit Sharma has been confirmed as the official tournament ambassador. The global event, scheduled to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, 2026, will see Rohit take on this prestigious role after previously leading India to T20 World Cup glory in 2024. So let’s have a look at Rohit Sharma T20 World Cup 2026 ambassador.

Rohit Sharma’s Glorious T20 World Cup Legacy

Rohit Sharma’s association with the T20 World Cup spans nearly two decades. He remains one of the very few cricketers to win the Men’s T20 World Cup twice—first in 2007, during the tournament’s inaugural edition, and again in 2024, where he led India to a historic triumph that ended an 11-year ICC trophy drought.

In his debut edition in 2007, Rohit played crucial knocks, scoring 42 vs South Africa* and 30 in the final against Pakistan*, helping India clinch the title. His 2024 campaign was even more impactful, as he amassed 257 runs at a strike rate of 156.70, emerging as India’s highest run-getter in the tournament. Memorable innings like 92 off 41 vs Australia in the Super Eights and 57 off 39 vs England in the semifinal set the tone for India’s title-winning run.

Having scored 4231 T20I runs at an average of 32.01 and a strike rate of 140.89, Rohit retired from T20Is after India lifted the 2024 trophy.

Rohit Excited to Take on a New Role

Speaking about his appointment as ambassador, Rohit expressed pride and excitement at being part of another T20 World Cup, this time in a different capacity.

“It is great to have the tournament back in India and for me to be associated once again, this time as the Brand Ambassador. I wish all players the very best and hope they enjoy India’s hospitality while creating unforgettable memories,” Rohit said.

T20 World Cup Returns to India and Sri Lanka

The 2026 edition will mark the return of the Men’s T20 World Cup to the subcontinent after 10 years. With both India and Sri Lanka co-hosting the event, fans can expect electrifying crowds, high-scoring contests, and a celebration of cricketing culture unlike anywhere else.

Rohit Sharma’s presence as ambassador adds historic significance and star value to the tournament, making the buildup to the 2026 T20 World Cup even more exciting for fans across the globe.
