Rahul or Pant in T20 WC 2024?
India has always struggled to a find a permanent wicket batter, both before and after Dhoni era, who managed the spot with elegance for 15 years. Here in this article let’s look at details on Rahul or Pant in T20 WC 2024.
With the T20 World Cup is about to start in couple of months, the Indian side is again facing the same issue, as there is no first-choice wicket keeper option in front of selectors due to inconsistency and injuries of players.
Rishabh Pant was seen as the player who could replicate Dhoni’s performance for India, and he was given regular chances.
However, his horrific car accident in December 2022 kept him out of action for more than a year before he made his return to competitive cricket in IPL 2024.

India did try many options during his absence and included Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, and Jitesh Sharma but the inconsistency factor with them is the biggest cause of concern for the selectors.
Kishan has played 32 T20Is for India and scored 796 at a strike rate of 124.37. Sanju has featured in 25 T20Is and posted 374 at 133.09.
While Jitesh Sharma is the new entrant in the side and has appeared in 9 games where he fetched 100 runs at 147.05.

Jitesh Sharma 9 7 100 14.28 147.05
There is one more option in front of Indian selectors in the form of KL Rahul, who used to open for India sometime back alongside skipper Rohit Sharma but is not fitting in current set up due to the emergence of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the shortest format.
Rahul kept wickets for India in the ODI World Cup last year, and if he managed to play well in the ongoing IPL, then he will get the preference due to experience.
However, as Rishabh is back on the field, everyone is watching his fitness and performance very closely, as he is the second most experienced wicketkeeper after KL Rahul.
