The 23-year-old, who is in his first county season, hammered 28 fours and 11 sixes on his way to his second List A double century. This was his sixth List A century, and his first since a 165 against Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarterfinal in 2020-21, when he guided Mumbai to victory.

Shaw became the first Indian to score a double ton in the One-Day Cup game when he scored 153 from 24 balls for Northamptonshire against Somerset. The right-handed batter is now only the second Indian, after Cheteshwar Pujara, to hit 150 or more in the competition.

Shaw also became only the third cricketer in history to score a double hundred, breaking Ollie Robinson’s previous mark of 206.

He also surpassed Ben Duckett’s 220 not out for England Lions against Sri Lanka A in 2016 to score the second-highest List A innings ever made in England. Only Alistair Brown (268 for Surrey versus Glamorgan at the Oval in 2002) has scored more.

Not only that, but Shaw overtook Sourav Ganguly’s 183 for India (against Sri Lanka, 1999) as the highest List A score by an Indian in England.

Shaw made 26 runs against Sussex before being famously got out on a hit wicket in the opening game against Gloucestershire while batting at 34 runs. Then he scored the fastest double hundred, scoring 200 runs in just 129 balls in third England’s Lisa A cricket game.

With 56 List A appearances, Shaw has amassed almost 2900 runs, 20 fifty-plus scores, and a 50+ average.

He last played for India on the tour of Sri Lanka in July 2021.

He was a member of the squad for the home T20Is against New Zealand earlier this year but was left out for the current series against West Indies.
