“The PCB is satisfied by the assurances and guarantees provided by the ECB on behalf of its medical panel, and feels comfortable with the existing protocols that have been put in place to ensure all the Pakistan players and player support staff remain safe and secure throughout the duration of the series, which commences on Thursday, July 8, in Cardiff,” the PCB said in its official statement.

“The PCB has also been in touch with its team management and has advised them to exercise extra caution while in the hotel or at the match venue,” it added.

The ECB confirmed an 18-man squad for the forthcoming series against Pakistan on Tuesday. The announcement comes after it has been revealed that three members of the first group of players and 4 members of the management staff had tested positive for COVID-19, mandating the isolation of the entire team.

Stokes Suppose To Take A Break For The White-Ball Series, Returns As Head Coach

Ben Stokes will lead the team, and Chris Silverwood, who was supposed to take a break for the white-ball series, has returned as head coach. There are 9 players on the team who have never played before.

For the first time in his career, Ben Stokes will captain England in the 50-over format. He was not named in the first Pakistan ODI team, and it was believed that he would not play many games during the home summer. After healing from injury, he was playing for Durham in the T20 Blast, but the exceptional circumstances have compelled him to return to the field.

Three ODIs and as many T20Is will be played between England and Pakistan. The ODI series will begin on Thursday and conclude on July 13 with the third and final match.
