With only a few hours left to name the final squads for the T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan finally released their 15-member squad.

Let us look in detail at the Pakistan squad for T20 World Cup: 

Babar Azam, as expected, has been appointed as captain of team Pakistan for the T20 World Cup 2024. Shadab Khan has been given the responsibility of vice-captain.

Haris Rauf, one of Pakistan’s premium bowlers, has not been able to play cricket for the last 3 months due to a shoulder injury he suffered during a PSL 2024 game, is completely and found a place in Pakistan’s World Cup team.  

The selectors have backed the experienced campaigners for the marquee event, which the men in green last won in 2009.  

Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim are some of the proven destructive batters who found a place in the squad. While the new T20I master Azam Khan also made the cut.  

Shaheen Shah Afridi is again ready to lead the pace attack, which looks stronger with the inclusion of experienced Mohd. Amir, Haris Rauf and swing master Naseen Shah.

The men in green are not looking in good touch at the moment after losing 2 home games to New Zealand in April and a game to Ireland early this month.  

Babar & Co. are currently in England for a 4-match series which concludes on May 30. They will fly directly to the USA from England and will not play any warm-up game. 

Pakistan will start their World Cup campaign on June 6 against the host United States of America. The men in green then face India on June 9, Canada on June 11, and will play against Ireland on June 16.
