Pakistan Can Beat Team India In The T20-WC: Azhar Mahmood

Former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood has given his thoughts on recent issues in Pakistan cricket, as well as the announcement of the T20 World Cup team. According to Mahmood, who was the bowling coach for this Pakistan team for some time, feels that Fakhar Zaman and Shoaib Malik could perhaps have been included in the team.

Will Pakistan Beat Team India In The T20-WC

Fakhar Zaman has already been named in the Pakistan T20I team’s first XIs, thus his omission from the 15 was a surprise to many. Despite this, he was sent to the reserves. As per Mahmood, Shoaib Malik should have been selected in the middle order, because of his ability. He also added that Malik’s recent form has been impressive.

“In my opinion, Fakhar Zaman should have been in the squad. In the middle-order, Shoaib Malik should have been selected as he has been performing really well in recent times. He did well in the PSL and Leagues around the world. You definitely need experience in this sort of situation,” said Mahmood to Cricket Pakistan.

Mahmood says that for sure they can beat Team India in the T20-WC

Mahmood also lauded the choices of Khushdil Shah and Asif Ali who have also been picked to bat in the middle order. Mahmood said, “The good thing is that they have recalled Asif [Ali] and Khushdil [Shah] as they are impact players in the middle-order.”

In addition, Mahmood discussed Pakistan’s first encounter, which will take place on October 24 at the Dubai International Stadium versus India. Pakistan has faced India 5 times in T20 World Cups so far but did not win even once. They’ve also lost 7 consecutive games in the 50-over World Cup, since 1992.

Mahmood, on the other hand, is optimistic that Pakistan would defeat India this time. “It will be a tough match as India is playing really well and they will have an edge over Pakistan. However, if the Pakistan team clicks, I’m sure we can beat India,” he said.

Mahmood also addressed the resignations of Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis as head coach and bowling coach, accordingly. He was confused by the timing, given that the duo were preparing on this squad for the T20 World Cup. He stated that the choice may have an influence on the players, both good and bad.
