PAK-W vs SL-W Highlights: Pakistan secure a convincing win in low-scoring clash at Sharjah

PAK-W vs SL-W Highlights For Today Match of Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 Match 2

The low scoring game at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium saw Pakistan women’s cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by 31 runs in the second match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

It was a second straight low-scoring match in the marquee event where the chasing side failed to reach the target and lose the game despite playing complete 20 overs.

PAK-W vs SL-W Highlights

After winning the toss, the captain of team Pakistan, Fatima Sana, made her intention clear by choosing to bat first that they wanted to put the maximum total at the slow track, as team Sri Lanka is a side.

Skipper Fatima Sana scored the most runs for the side with a 20-ball 30, while Nida Dar played a knock of 22-ball 23. Apart from them none of the batters were able to cross the 20-run mark on the difficult batting surface.

After trying extremely hard to score as many runs as possible, team Pakistan managed to reach 116 in 20 overs.

Udeshika Prabodhani, Sugandika Kumari and skipper Chamari Atapattu all grabbed 3 wickets each. While Kavisha Dilhari took a scalp while giving 16 in 2 overs.

Easy task for Asia Champions

The Asian Champions Sri Lanka found themselves in unpleasant position after losing half of their side on 52 in 12.4 overs.

With 65 more to win the 44 balls, Sri Lanka’s only hope was on the partnership between Nilakshi de Silva and the wicketkeeper batter Anushka Sanjeewani.

However, both only added 18 in 24 balls, as Anushka Sanjeewani went back to pavilion after scoring 5 off 10.

Nilakshi de Silva (22) walked back in the next 19th over after scoring the most Sri Lanka, but it wasn’t enough for her side to secure a win.

Sadia Iqbal starred with the ball for Pakistan, as she took three wickets for 17 in 4 overs. While captain Fatima Sana, Omaima Sohail and Nashra Sandhu also gripped the game with their excellent bowling and each secured 2 wickets.
