PAK vs ENG 1st Test Day 2 update: Pakistan continued their solid momentum on the second day of the first test and posted a mammoth total in their first innings at Multan Cricket Stadium.  

Riding high on captain Shan Masood, Abdullah Shafique and Agha Salman’s centuries, the hosts recorded 556. England, who played 20 overs on the second day, scored 96 for 1 at stumps.  

England defeated Pakistan 3-0 during their last test series tour in 2022. However, Pakistan dominated the first two days of the 2024 test series. Although there are three more days left in the game, and England must bring their A best game.

PAK vs ENG 1st Test update  

Batting first, Pakistan faced a shock after losing their first wicket for 8. The 253-run stand between Abdullah Shafique and captain Shan Masood, however, put the team in control.  

There was a high expectation from Babar Azam, especially after when the platform to score big was set, Azam once again failed to convert his start to a big knock and got out on 30. 

Came in at number 5, Saud Shakeel, played a solid knock of 82. While Agha Salman remained unbeaten at 104, as Pakistan bowled out for 556.  

Jack Leach bagged the most wickets for England in the first innings with three scalps. Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse took 2 each. While Chris Woakes, Shoaib Bashir and Joe Root also shared 1-1 each.  

Skipper Ollie Pope was out without scoring, while Zak Crawley (64), and Joe Root (32) added 92 for the second wicket before stumps, and will start the proceedings for England on day 3.

England, who is playing the first test without their regular red-ball captain Ben Stokes, will be needing to bounce back with the bat on day 3, as the first two days were dominated by the hosts.
