Sri Lanka will host the second-string Indian side for a three-match ODI and T20i series starting from 18th July. The R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will be hosting all three ODI games which are scheduled to be played on 18th, 20th, and 23rd July respectively. Indian season-campaigner Shikhar Dhawan will lead the side in the absence of Virat Kohli, who is currently in England for India’s upcoming Test series against the English team. Sri Lanka vs India 1st ODI: Preview

The Indians have totally dominated the Sri Lankans when it comes to the ODI series. The Sri Lankans have not won a single bilateral ODI series against India since 1997. The two sides have faced each other a total of 159 times in ODIs. Out of which, the Men in Blue have won a total of 91 games and the Sri Lankans have only won 56 of them. Only 1 has resulted in a tie (NR:11). India has won eight consecutive ODI series against the Sri Lankans since February 2007.

It also involves two 5-0 whitewashes. Sri Lanka has only managed to get the better of the Indians in a bilateral ODI series twice in 1993 and 1997. India won 2-1 in their last ODI series against Sri Lanka in 2017. India has a win-loss record of 28-27 against Sri Lanka away from home. Both the teams have won 15 games each at the R Premadasa Stadium against each other. However, Sri Lanka has not won a single game against India at R Premadasa Stadium since 2009.
