KL Rahul IPL 2026 Trade News: No, He Is Not Moving to KKR

KL Rahul IPL 2026 trade news: No move to KKR confirmed

Rumours Around IPL 2026 Trades Continue

A day after KL Rahul’s trade news broke out, reports now confirm that the India star will not be moving from Delhi Capitals (DC) to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). As with several IPL trade stories in the past, this one too appears to be just another rumour. So let’s have a look at KL Rahul IPL 2026 trade news.

In the IPL ecosystem, trade discussions often start with strong interest from a franchise but fade away soon after, mainly because the other team’s offer isn’t attractive enough. The ongoing trade window for IPL 2026 has seen several such talks fall through already.

No KL Rahul to KKR

This time, the buzz surrounded Washington Sundar and KL Rahul. There were suggestions that Sundar could move from Gujarat Titans (GT) to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and that Rahul might shift from Delhi Capitals (DC) to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

However, as per a fresh Cricbuzz report, neither of these trades are happening. Rahul will stay with Delhi Capitals for now, ending speculations about a blockbuster swap deal.

For a brief period, the Rahul trade rumour seemed genuine, as there were talks of Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi being exchanged, with Sanju Samson also mentioned as part of a complex trade possibility. Given Rahul and Samson are both keeper-batters with leadership abilities, the link did make some sense. KKR, in particular, have been eyeing a keeper-opener for balance.

KKR Reluctant to Trade Varun or Rinku

KKR’s main obstacle in pursuing Rahul is their reluctance to release any of their premium players like Rinku Singh or Varun Chakravarthy. A trade for someone of Rahul’s stature would almost certainly require parting ways with one of these stars — a move Kolkata is unwilling to make.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals are in no hurry to trade Rahul, especially since he remains a central figure in their leadership and batting plans. A DC source reportedly told Cricbuzz,

“Why would we release our marquee player?”

This confirms Rahul’s strong position in the DC setup heading into IPL 2026.

Players Have Limited Say in Trades

While trade speculation dominates social media every off-season, the players themselves often have little say in such moves. Franchise decisions and negotiations happen mostly at the management level.

Interestingly, similar uncertainty surrounds Sanju Samson’s situation at Rajasthan Royals (RR), with reports suggesting he may or may not stay, depending on the final trade dynamics.
