Why Kohli To Miss Sri Lanka T20I? – Jadeja Set To Make Comeback?

In a major move, experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is likely to make a return in the forthcoming home series versus Sri Lanka. The 33-year-old is now out of play since the 1st Test versus New Zealand in late November 2021, due to a knee injury. Nonetheless, he is getting himself fit to play in the 2-match Test series versus the Lankans. Here You Will Know About Why Kohli To Miss Sri Lanka T20I series.

Interestingly, before the two-Test series, India will welcome Sri Lanka in 3 T20Is. According to sources, the lefty, who was receiving treatment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, has indeed arrived in Lucknow, the venue of the 1st Twenty20 International. He is currently serving an isolation term. Jadeja has also taken COVID-19 screenings and would be selected in the T20I team if the results are negative. BCCI stated the all-rounder was “undergoing his final stage of recovery post his knee injury and will not be available for the ODIs and T20Is (vs West Indies).”

It has also been reported that the star pacer Jasprit Bumrah would make a return. Both Jadeja & Bumrah have opted out of the current white-ball series versus the West Indies, however for various reasons. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sidelined Bumrah and fellow bowler Mohammed Shami while picking the teams for the series.

Rohit Sharma likely to take over Team India’s Test captaincy

Furthermore, it has been reported that Virat Kohli could miss the Sri Lanka T20I series, which begins on February 24. Kohli has been struggling with runs recently and is anticipated to be sidelined. He would, therefore, make his return for the next Test series, with the 1st Test being his 100th match in the format.

However, Rohit Sharma is expected to take over the Test captain’s role. Virat Kohli stepped down following India’s 1-2 loss to South Africa earlier month.

Since Rohit is currently the ODI and T20I skipper, many believe he should not be named Test captain due to his injury history. Meanwhile, according to recent circumstances, the 34-year-old is poised to become India’s all-format captain.
