Reports indicate a heated argument between Shah Rukh Khan, KKR’s owner, and Ness Wadia, PBKS’s owner, over player retention numbers. Shah Rukh Khan supported a higher retention limit, while Ness Wadia opposed it. This disagreement highlights the tension among franchise owners regarding the future retention policies for the 2025 IPL mega auction.

The overall purse value is also set to be increased by 20 to 25%, where before it was 100 cores but now based on reports it is understood that the overall purse will now be around 120 to 125 cores.
